SYNOPSIS

“Am I going to die?” Alfred asked on his seventh birthday, as the blood of a rainbow trout ran down his arms.
“Yes,” his father, Grutan, replied, shaking his understanding of the world. But all was not lost, for Grutan revealed his deepest secret that day: he believed with all his heart in a place beyond death, where people live forever. He had seen it in a dream, for he was taken there by the power of seven crowns.
The people of Halcareth had always worshipped the Twelve Keepers; angelic beings created to watch over humanity. But on a fateful day while hunting for the crowns, Alfred and his father encountered a winged messenger carrying a child – one neither human nor Keeper, but something greater…
Would they ever reach the lands of Heaven, or would a prophesied evil prevent Alfred from stepping into his destiny as the one to open The Chamber of the Seven Crowns?

SETTING
The Kingdom of Halcareth
The tale of the Twelve Keepers begins in Halcareth; an island nation of great wealth and power. For centuries its people have looked after Materia, the living pillar of matter. Now, it is home to Alfred, son of Grutan, and his brothers.
The residents of this nation are called the Halcari and they worship celestial beings known commonly as the Twelve Keepers.
Their customs revolve around these beings, but some have encountered them first-hand, learning that Keepers are not at all as good as they had once believed.
